How does the product help to build a child’s emotional resilience?

The Courageous Caterpillar was developed during the COVID-19 lockdowns. We recognise the importance of emotional resilience in children and we have created a tool that encourages conversations about life’s big lessons. Every month for twelve months you will receive a box that helps introduce a different topic to your child in a friendly and accessible way.

What is included in the boxes?

Each box includes a 12-page story booklet, two activities, a surprise such as a colouring-in book and some of the boxes will have craft items. The boxes will be based on the following life lessons:

1. Courage
2. Asking for help
3. Helping others
4. Community
5. Remembrance
6. How we feel
7. Our differences
8. Being yourself
9. Confidence
10. Don’t give up
11. Waiting for things
12. Feeling thankful

How does my monthly gift help children?

Helen & Douglas House hospice improves the lives of local terminally ill children and their families living in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. We are the world’s first children’s hospice and we provide one-to-one respite and end-of-life care at our hospice in Oxford as well as end of life care at home and in hospital. Our amazing care makes it possible for families to create happy memories which will last forever. We need to raise at least £3.4m each year to fund care and we cannot do that without your help.

How much of the money goes to Helen & Douglas House?

All the profits raised through The Courageous Caterpillar go to Helen & Douglas House.

“Luna gets so excited when her caterpillar box arrives in the post. She can’t wait to read the story together and complete all of the activities. She’s so proud of herself when she’s finished. It’s lovely for us to spend this quality time together each month.”

Kirsty, Luna’s mum
